The N series of chargers is a series specifically for the European market launched by hoco. The series is exquisite in workmanship and has passed the CE EU safety certification. Today we took out one of the N3 QC3.0 chargers for special disassembly.
The packaging of the N3 QC3.0 charger adopts a front window design, the charger can be seen without opening the package, which is intuitive and convenient. The multiple certification marks on the bottom right corner of the back of the package also show that this product is very safe.
The charger uses a pure PC flame-retardant material white shell and aluminum alloy decorative strips, adopts a curved design, the input is fixed European standard pins.
The European standard pins are specially processed and pass the standard ball pressure test.

Input: 100V-240V~50/60Hz 0.5A universal wide voltage.
Output: 5V/3A(15W), 9V/2A(18W), 12V/1.5A(18W).
There are many certification icons such as CE/ROHS.
The output port is a green USB-A port, the silkscreen QC3.0 logo next to the port.
The length of the charger body measured with a vernier caliper is 85.4mm.
The width is 43.19mm.
The thickness is 27.16mm.
The thickness of the body is equivalent to the diameter of a 1 yuan coin.
The charger weighs 53.5g.
Use voltmeter to test, support standard charging protocols such as DCP 5V/1.5A and Apple 2.4A.
It also supports multiple fast charging protocols such as QC/AFC/FCP.
The PC shell adopts ultrasonic technology, remove the shell and take out the PCB board, the components on the input end have been glued and reinforced.
The shell is made of pure PC, flame retardant can reach 750°C.

After observing and analyzing the circuit on the front and back of the PCB board, it is found that the hoco. N3 18W fast charge charger adopts a switching power supply with wide-range output and a typical architecture of secondary protocol chip control output.
Below we start from the input end to understand each component one by one.
The time-lag fuse specification is 2A 250V, which has been certified by Taiwan Huade.
Two groups of A7 SMD diodes are silk-screened.

TC762 QC18W Synchronous Rectifier IC
Two high-voltage filter electrolytic capacitors with specifications of 400V 15μF, come from Dongguan Chuanghui Electronics, and have a good reputation in the industry.
A close-up of the power supply capacitor of the PWM main control chip, the specification is 50V 10μ, also from Dongguan Chuanghui Electronics.

Through disassembly, it can be seen that the PCB board space of the hoco. N3 QC18W charger is sufficient, the primary and secondary boundaries are obvious, the input components and the transformer are glued and reinforced, the internal stability is guaranteed. In addition, electrolytic capacitors higher than the industry standard are used, the safety is further improved. At the same time, it has passed CE/ROHS certification, and the materials and workmanship of internal components have reached the industry’s high level.
